NBA Superstar Lebron James inspires film and power-packed soundtrack via Interscope Records...

Lebron James made the leap from a St. Vincent-St. High School in Ohio, to the NBA franchise Cleveland Cavaliers without missing a step. The talent and ferociousness that King James exudes on the hardwood is baffling. He is now a global superstar and has recently inspired the film "More Than A Game" about his career to this point.

Just yesterday, Interscope Records released a soundtrack which features heavy weights in the hiphop game including up-and-comer, Drake, T.I., Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Eminem, and many others. The album was released mainly by Interscopes' sub-label Zone 4 Inc/Productions headed by producer Polow Da Don.
Singles on the album include "Stronger" by Mary J. Blige, "Drop It Low" by Ester Dean, and "Forever" a hard-hitting track by Drake featuring, Lil Wayne, Kanye, and Eminem, a rather tough track if you ask me.

I'm sure Interscope President Jimmy Iovine jumped at the opportunity to work with Lionsgate films and Harvey Mason Media on this project. Not only is this a great project to be a part of, but its bound to be a big seller in terms of albums. Welcome to the music business Lebron. To celebrate, Lebron hosted a star-studded album release party last Tuesday September 22nd, at Marquee here in NYC.

It seems like LBJ is becoming more and more comfortable here in NY, a la his Yankee cap obsession and palin' around with Jay-Z. As a hardcore New York Knick fan, I'm hoping Madison Square Garden becomes his permanent residence in 2010 as he will become an unrestricted free-agent. Let the bidding war begin!

Kevin Rudolf featuring Lil Wayne "Let It Rock"....

As I was reading through some wiki's, I came across an interesting fact that shocked me and proves the point that working with the "hottest" artists will undoubtedly boost record sales.

Kevin Rudolf's 2009 single "Let It Rock" was certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) and was so hugely successful thanks to the guest appearance by hiphop superstar "Weezy" aka Lil Wayne. Not to take anything away from Kevin Rudolf, but you can almost guarantee that without the guest spot, "Let It Rock" would produce mediocre sales numbers. "Let It Rock" moved over 3,200,000 units to date, almost unheard-of sales figures for a injured record business. Even more shocking is the fact that most rap/rock collaborations are typically not very successful. It is hard to find a reason for this, however past attempts show that the two markets tend to not mesh well (of course there are exceptions). Apparently you really have to nail the track or have Lil Wayne spit that "hot fire".

Coincidentally, Kevin Rudolf and Weezy are label mates at Cash Money Records. A Strategic move by President-Lil Wayne, Owners-Bryan "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams to take a relatively unknown rock singer/songwriter from NYC and collaborate with one of the world's biggest rap superstars.

Kevin Rudolph is also an accomplished producer/guitarist who work's with some of the industry's top acts. Most recently, Kevin produced and co-wrote Cobra Starships chart topping single "Good Girls Go Bad", although he really should thank Lil Wayne for springboarding his career to the next level. Nevermind the royalties, this song was all over the airwaves!

And for Lil Weezy, seems like everything he touches turns to platinum these days. Even that platinum grill that he calls teeth...

Bruce Springstein turns 60! Happy Birthday to "The Boss"....

Sixty years after being born in the USA, "The Boss" celebrates his 60th birthday today Sept, 23th 2009.
So today we salute you Mr. Jersey boy, American flag bandanna wearing, icon of rock n' roll. Even at the ripe age of 60, Bruce is still performing at the top of his game with energy packed live shows that sell out football arena's nationwide and in record time. The Boss continues to drop number one records and shows no sign of slowing down. A 401k plan that would impress the pants off of even the most successful of stock brokers and hedge fund exec's even without a company match.
Bruce Springstein's illustrious career should serve as an inspiration to everyone regardless of the line of work you are involved in. To do something you love for a career may be one of the most satisfying achievements, although to be a rock-star is a far reach for your average Joe.
What are the odds i can track down his booking agent to see if he can play at my wedding? Or maybe I'll just have the DJ spin my favorite Boss track "Rosalita".

What's yours???

Welcome to MyMusicHangover.com...

I'm Matt, some call me "Dunny" welcome to my new music blog site. I'm border-line obsessed with the music industry. Therefore, I created my own personal blog to act as a venue for my thoughts, opinions, and inspirations. I'm going to do my best to make sense of this crazy business, which truly makes no sense at times.

Sometimes I feel like the business of music is so far-reaching and seems out of touch to the average music fan. My goal here is to bring the business from the glamour and glitz that it is portrayed and make it more "real" because in reality it's just a business.

I will touch on many different topics in this blog. However, I will try to focus on the music business itself and my passion for uncovering budding artists and bands, also know as A&R work. I would like to give "props" to people/bands/artists/companies who are overlooked and acknowledge others for they're successes. If something seems interesting to me, I will post a blog about it. If something is ridiculous and needs to be called out, I'm your man.

So stay tuned, I'm quite random.

Thanks for your support and feel free to reach out, see my contact page to get in touch.

All the Best,
