Kevin Rudolf featuring Lil Wayne "Let It Rock"....

As I was reading through some wiki's, I came across an interesting fact that shocked me and proves the point that working with the "hottest" artists will undoubtedly boost record sales.

Kevin Rudolf's 2009 single "Let It Rock" was certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) and was so hugely successful thanks to the guest appearance by hiphop superstar "Weezy" aka Lil Wayne. Not to take anything away from Kevin Rudolf, but you can almost guarantee that without the guest spot, "Let It Rock" would produce mediocre sales numbers. "Let It Rock" moved over 3,200,000 units to date, almost unheard-of sales figures for a injured record business. Even more shocking is the fact that most rap/rock collaborations are typically not very successful. It is hard to find a reason for this, however past attempts show that the two markets tend to not mesh well (of course there are exceptions). Apparently you really have to nail the track or have Lil Wayne spit that "hot fire".

Coincidentally, Kevin Rudolf and Weezy are label mates at Cash Money Records. A Strategic move by President-Lil Wayne, Owners-Bryan "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams to take a relatively unknown rock singer/songwriter from NYC and collaborate with one of the world's biggest rap superstars.

Kevin Rudolph is also an accomplished producer/guitarist who work's with some of the industry's top acts. Most recently, Kevin produced and co-wrote Cobra Starships chart topping single "Good Girls Go Bad", although he really should thank Lil Wayne for springboarding his career to the next level. Nevermind the royalties, this song was all over the airwaves!

And for Lil Weezy, seems like everything he touches turns to platinum these days. Even that platinum grill that he calls teeth...
